Gold Brahmas
At present we keep Gold Brahmas one of the most friendly birds that we keep. The birds that we have are of show quality, unrelated and of great quality. Last year we sold out of brahmas very early in the year. For 2012 we are adding Lemon Pyle Brahmas.
The brahma is a tall docile bird with feathered feet, not sutabile for muddy areas. Very easy to take care of, do not fly very high so no need for tall fencing. Birds are great with children.
Hens are not known to be good layers, should average around 150 eggs per year with very few during the winter. The hens are great broodies and make excellent mothers. They make an excellent addition to any backyard flock.
Brahmas originate in Brahmaputra, Indian arriving on our shores in the 1840s. The roosters weighing around 11 pounds the hens around 8.5. They take approx 12 months before they fully grown. They should start laying around 26 weeks.
